Connect Fulfilment Plus - MerchantFlow

Connect Fulfilment Plus, the Auckland 3PL that runs on CartonCloud, to MerchantFlow to pull pick and pack charges and per-shipment freight onto every order.

Connect Fulfilment Plus to MerchantFlow

The Fulfilment Plus integration pulls what Fulfilment Plus charges you to fulfil each order -- pick and pack plus freight -- onto that order in MerchantFlow, so order and product profit reflect what you actually pay.

What Is the Fulfilment Plus Integration?

Fulfilment Plus is a third-party logistics (3PL) warehouse in Auckland, New Zealand. It runs its warehouse on CartonCloud, so in MerchantFlow the card is titled Fulfilment Plus with "New Zealand · Powered by CartonCloud" beneath it. You connect Fulfilment Plus; CartonCloud is simply where the data comes from.

The integration is fulfilment cost only. Fulfilment Plus stores and ships stock you already own and never bills you product cost, so your COGS keeps coming from your COGS setup.

How to Connect Fulfilment Plus

Ask Fulfilment Plus for:

  • A client ID and client secret for a CartonCloud API client created for you. The client needs to be able to read both your charges and your consignments (shipments) -- freight is recorded on the consignment, so without consignment access MerchantFlow cannot cost your orders
  • Your customer ID in their CartonCloud account (a long UUID, not the short number shown in CartonCloud's interface)

Then open Settings -> Integrations, find the Fulfilment Plus card, and connect:

  1. Paste the client ID and client secret. MerchantFlow checks them before going further.
  2. Choose your customer account, or paste the customer ID if the list cannot be loaded.
  3. MerchantFlow reads your customer account name from CartonCloud, so there is nothing to type. Only if Fulfilment Plus has not shipped anything for you yet will it ask for the name as it appears on your invoices.
  4. Confirm the Warehouse billing currency -- pre-filled with NZD for Fulfilment Plus.
  5. Optionally enter the date Fulfilment Plus shipped your first order. Orders placed before it are left alone, so history from before you moved to Fulfilment Plus is not reported as missing charges.
  6. Click Connect Fulfilment Plus.

Before the credentials are accepted, MerchantFlow requires that your email is verified and, if your MerchantFlow account has a password, that two-factor authentication is enabled. You do not need MerchantFlow two-factor authentication when you connect from inside your Shopify admin, because Shopify has already signed you in. You also need the integrations:manage permission, which owners and admins have by default.

MerchantFlow only ever reads charges and shipments for your customer account, and refuses any response that contains another customer's data.

What Data Does MerchantFlow Sync from Fulfilment Plus?

For each order, MerchantFlow adds together:

  • Pick and pack -- the per-order fee and per-unit outbound charges
  • Freight -- the shipping fee recorded on each shipment (consignment), including resends and orders sent in more than one shipment
  • Any other charges Fulfilment Plus raises against the order, including freight entered as a separate charge

The total is written as the order's fulfilment cost, labelled Shipping & 3PL fulfilment across your Orders and P&L. Amounts are ex GST and are converted from NZD to your workspace currency.

Storage and Inbound Receiving

Storage and inbound receiving are not caused by any one order - storage is billed per period and receiving per stock delivery - so they are not added to order costs. Instead they sync automatically as expenses in the 3PL Warehousing category, and appear as their own line in your P&L and on the Expenses page. That keeps your per-order profit about the order, while still showing what the warehouse costs you overall.

  • Each storage or receiving charge becomes one expense, marked as synced so it cannot be edited by hand.
  • Storage charges are spread across the month they cover; receiving charges land on the day the stock arrived.
  • If Fulfilment Plus corrects or removes a charge, the expense is updated or removed on the next sync.
  • Other warehouse costs Fulfilment Plus bills you directly, such as account management fees, can be added by hand under the same 3PL Warehousing category.

When a cost shows as unavailable

MerchantFlow never guesses a freight figure:

  • If a shipment was collected rather than sent with a carrier, its freight is zero.
  • If a shipment was sent but has no shipping fee recorded, the order's cost is marked unavailable rather than saved without its freight. Any cost already stored for that order is kept.
  • An order that has not shipped yet has nothing to cost until Fulfilment Plus ships and charges it.

What Fulfilment Plus Does Not Supply

  • Packaging. Fulfilment Plus calculates packaging outside CartonCloud, so it is not included.
  • Tracking. Tracking already reaches MerchantFlow through Shopify.
  • Product cost (COGS).

When Does It Sync?

Fulfilment Plus costs are refreshed after each order sync. New freight usually appears within an hour of the shipping label being printed. From the 8th of each month, MerchantFlow also re-reads the previous month once, so late or corrected charges on your monthly invoice are picked up.

Using Fulfilment Plus with Other Fulfilment Costs

While a 3PL is connected, its actual charges take priority and per-product fulfilment rates do not apply.

You can connect Fulfilment Plus alongside a 3PL on a different platform -- for example Fulfilment Plus for New Zealand and another provider for Australia or the US. Each order takes its cost from whichever provider actually shipped it. Only one CartonCloud-based 3PL can be connected at a time.

Disconnecting

Disconnecting Fulfilment Plus removes the stored credentials and stops future syncs. Costs already synced onto your orders are kept.
