Share P&L - Post Your Numbers as an Image
Turn your MerchantFlow P&L into a branded image sized for Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, or Stories. Your store name is hidden unless you choose to include it, and your domain never appears.
Share P&L
Share P&L turns your headline numbers for the selected period into a branded image, sized for the platform you are posting to. It exists for building in public, milestone posts, and investor updates -- the cases where a screenshot of a dashboard looks messy and leaks more than you meant to share.
Open it from the Share P&L button at the top of Dashboard. The dialog is titled Share your P&L.
You need the financials permission for it -- Owners, Admins, and Analysts have it; the Viewer role does not. See roles and permissions.
What the image contains
The image renders your headline P&L figures for the currently selected time range, formatted in your store's currency and laid out as three labelled bands:
| Band | Figures |
|---|---|
| 01 True North | Net Revenue, as the hero number |
| 02 Profitability | Net Profit and Margin |
| 03 Operations | Orders, AOV, Ad Spend, ROAS |
The numbered band markers -- 01, 02, 03 -- are drawn on the Square, LinkedIn, and Story formats; the 16:9 Twitter / X format is too short for them, so it shows the same figures without the markers.
A sparkline of daily net revenue sits under the hero number on every format except the 16:9 Twitter / X one, which is too short for it. Large figures are abbreviated -- $1.2M, $540K -- so they never overflow the canvas.
The header carries the range as an eyebrow: TODAY, LAST 7 DAYS, LAST 30 DAYS, LAST 90 DAYS, LAST YEAR, or CUSTOM RANGE.
Changing the dashboard time range changes what the image shows, so pick the period before opening the share dialog. If your plan caps history, the range is clamped to what you can actually see before the image is drawn.
The Yesterday preset is the exception. The image generator has no yesterday case, so selecting Yesterday on the dashboard falls back to the last 30 days and labels the eyebrow LAST 30 DAYS -- even though the downloaded filename still says yesterday. Use a custom range covering the single day instead, which is passed through as explicit dates and renders correctly under a CUSTOM RANGE eyebrow.
Privacy
Your store name and domain are not on the image by default. The rendered graphic carries only MerchantFlow's own branding and your numbers -- nothing that identifies your store.
If you want to be identified, tick Include my store name in the image in the dialog. It is off unless you switch it on, and only the store name is added -- never the domain.
That default is deliberate. The common failure mode with revenue screenshots is publishing your store domain to an audience that includes your competitors, and this feature does not make that easy to do by accident.
No customer data, product names, or order details appear. MerchantFlow's own marks do: the wordmark in the header, an Install on the Shopify App Store pill in the footer, and merchantflow.ai beside it.
Formats
Pick the aspect ratio for where you are posting:
| Format | Ratio | Pixels | For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Twitter / X | 16:9 | 1200 × 675 | X, and most link previews |
| Square | 1:1 | 1080 × 1080 | Instagram feed |
| 4:5 | 1080 × 1350 | LinkedIn feed | |
| Story | 9:16 | 1080 × 1920 | Instagram and TikTok Stories |
The Story format reserves safe zones top and bottom so nothing hides under a platform's own overlays.
There is also a Dark and a Light theme -- dark is the default. A live preview updates as you change either.
Sharing it
The dialog's footer offers:
- Download PNG -- saves the image
- Copy image -- copies it to the clipboard to paste straight into a post. Shown only in browsers that support putting an image on the clipboard
- Share -- hands the file to your device's native share sheet. Shown only where that is supported
- Tweet -- on mobile and supported desktops this opens the share sheet with the image attached; elsewhere it copies the image to your clipboard and opens X's compose window with a prefilled message, and you paste the image in. X's web compose has no way to attach an image from a link, which is why the paste step exists
Downloaded files are named merchantflow-pnl-{format}-{theme}-{range}-{date}.png, so a folder of exports stays legible.
Common questions
Does sharing an image expose my store? Not unless you tick the store-name option. By default the image carries only your numbers and MerchantFlow's own branding -- never your store domain.
Can I edit the numbers on the image? No. The image is generated from your actual data -- that is the point of it.
Which numbers appear? Net revenue, net profit, margin, orders, AOV, ad spend, and ROAS for the selected period. To change what is shown, change the time range before opening the dialog.
Is the image published anywhere by MerchantFlow? No. It is generated for you to download or share yourself. MerchantFlow does not post it or host it publicly.
Why do my numbers look different from last time? The image reflects your data as it stands now. Late-arriving ad spend, refunds, and COGS coverage changes all move the figures after the fact.
